From a young age, I’ve been drawn to problem solving and hands on work. I’d spend hours decoding mathematical puzzles, arranging tangrams, and assembling Legos. As an IB student, I chose classes that allow me to use these same skills, like Product Design, Physics, and Math.
I’m inspired by many different elements of the world around me, from my community to the environment. Many of my projects and initiatives focus on helping people from under-resourced areas and providing sustainable, eco-friendly solutions. I’m happiest when I can combine my creativity and logical thinking with positive impact.
I’m currently studying Civil Engineering at Northwestern University, with a minor in Economics. While this site mainly showcases work from my school years, it reflects the foundation of how I approach problems and design solutions today.
In my work, I’ve come to really value perseverance. I view failure as one of the greatest teachers and an essential part of experimentation and innovation.
I also believe in challenging the givens. Living in a male-dominated society, I’m often the only girl in STEM spaces. I’m determined to not be defined by others’ expectations and to carve my own path, while encouraging other young Arab girls to do the same.
I look forward to all the challenges and adventures that lie ahead.
