I have noticed a trend toward people buying modern furniture items that don’t necessarily have a relationship to their culture or heritage. With that in mind, I decided to create a side table that fused modern style with Arab tradition to demonstrate how it is possible to have contemporary furniture that is still connected to one’s cultural roots and preserve one’s unique identity.
The table is a hollow cube with a white acrylic top. The white acrylic has Arabic calligraphy engraved on it, and etched on the side of the wood is an Arabic quote that roughly translates to “Be optimistic and good things will happen”.
